Former Miami Marlins catcher Jorge Alfaro has agreed to a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs and will be invited to their spring training camp in Arizona. He split his time in 2023 with MLB stints with the Colorado Rockies and the Boston Red Sox along with a minor league stop with the Marlins.
Alfaro spent three seasons with the Marlins in the majors from 2019 to 2021. His best season with the club was in 2019 with 18 home runs, 57 runs batted in and a .262 batting average in 130 contests. Alfaro contributed to the team reaching the postseason in 2020 for the first time in 17 years.
