The Miami Marlins have traded infielder Jon Berti one day before the start of the 2024 regular season. The Marlins dealt Berti to the New York Yankees as part of the three-team trade. The Fish will get outfielder prospects John Cruz from the Yankees and Shane Sasaki from the Tampa Bay Rays.
Berti joined the Marlins as a free agent in December 2018. He contributed to Miami reaching the National League postseason in 2020 and 2023. Berti set career highs last year with seven home runs, 33 runs batted in and a .294 batting average in 133 games.
