Marlins pitcher Mike Baumann played for his fifth team in the majors this year when he entered the contest in the sixth inning. He tied a Major League Baseball record set by Oliver Drake back in 2018.
Colorado(49-84) rocketed out to the lead during the first inning with four runs. They added two more runs in the bottom of the second and led 6-0.
Miami(48-84) would chip away at the six-run margin. The Fish collected one run in the third, one run in the fourth and two runs in the sixth to trail 6-4. The Rockies bounced back two runs in the bottom of the sixth for an 8-4 advantage.
The Marlins shockingly scored five runs in the ninth inning to take a 9-8 lead. Jesus Sanchez capped the rally with a three-run homer to right-center field on the first pitch with Connor Norby and Derek Hill aboard. It was the 17th home run for Sanchez in the 2024 campaign.
