Marlins Speed By Twins

The Miami Marlins raced by the Minnesota Twins 9-5 on Wednesday night at Target Field. They conclude their three-game series tomorrow.
Miami(20-23) broke out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Otto Lopez got an infield hit to first and Xavier Edwards reached home. Two batters later, Connor Norby grounded into a double play for Liam Hicks to score.
Minnesota(19-24) answered back in the bottom of the first and were down 2-1. Byron Buxton lifted a leadoff home run to left field on the first pitch of the frame.
The Marlins added to their lead with two runs to make it 4-1 in the second inning. Owen Caissie powered a two-run homer to left-center field on a 1-1 count with Leo Jimenez on base. It was the third home run for Caissie in a Marlins uniform.
The Twins cut the deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the third. Buxton bashed a solo homer to left-center field on the first pitch for his second home run of the contest and 15th homer of the season.
The Marlins responded with four runs in the top of the fourth and led 8-2. Joe Mack knocked in Jimenez with a base hit into center field for his second run batted in of his MLB career. Edwards followed with a double into the left-field corner and Caissie crossed the plate. Hicks came up next and singled up the middle for Mack and Edwards to score.
The Twins compiled two runs in the bottom of the fifth and trailed 8-4. The Fish then scored one run in the sixth inning for a 9-4 advantage. Minnesota put up one run in the bottom of the eighth on a Cody Clemens solo home run to right-center field.
