Chicago(80-62) had a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Pedro Ramirez grounded into a force out and Ian Happ touched home.
The Cubs added three more runs during the top of the sixth and led 4-0. Happ walked with the bases loaded and Pete Crow-Armstrong crossed the plate. Nico Hoerner followed and knocked in Michael Busch on a base hit through the left side. Ramirez came up next and hit a sacrifice fly to center field which scored Alex Bregman.
The Cubbies made it a five-run margin 5-0 in the top of the seventh. Crow-Armstrong scored on a wild pitch.
Miami(71-71) scored their only run of the contest in the bottom of the seventh and the Marlins were down 5-1. Esteury Ruiz grounded to second and Griffin Conine reached home.
Chicago made it 6-1 during the ninth inning. Busch blasted a solo home run to right-center field ona 0-1 count for his 18th homer of the campaign.
