Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM has given a three-year contract extension to morning host Joe Rose through 2015. He has held that post since 2007. Rose has also been a sports anchor at WTVJ-TV Channel 6 since the early 1990's. His first stint at WQAM started in 1994 when he replaced Jimmy Cefalo as the morning co-host on The First Team with Dave Lamont and ended in December 2001 as the program with Rose, Jeff DeForrest and Steve Goldstein was eliminated.
Rose joined 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM when it flipped to a sports format in August 2004 as the morning host. He added duties as the Miami Dolphins radio game analyst alongside Jimmy Cefalo and Jim Mandich in August 2005. Rose left the station for WQAM when they picked up the radio rights to the Miami Dolphins prior to the 2007 season. Sid Rosenberg replaced him as the morning show host on WAXY. Rose began his second stint with WQAM and became the morning show host at that station.
He was first known in South Florida as a tight end for the Miami Dolphins from 1980 until 1985. Rose once co-hosted the Miccosukee Sports Rap sports show with former teammate Kim Bokamper and Steve Goldstein on Fox Sports Net Florida.
