The Miami Heat evened up the NBA Finals with a 109-93 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at AT&T Center on Thursday night. The best-of-seven series is now tied a two games apiece with Game 5 to be played on Sunday night in San Antonio.
LeBron James put up big numbers for the Heat with a team-high 33 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in 41 minutes of play. Dwyane Wade added 32 points, six rebounds, four assists and a playoff career-high six steals in 40 minutes. Chris Bosh contributed a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds in 38 minutes. Ray Allen had 14 points in 34 minutes as he came off the bench.
Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 20 points and five rebounds in 33 minutes while Tony Parker fell short of a double-double as he piled up 15 points and nine assists in 32 minutes. Kawhi Leonard knocked down 12 points along with seven rebounds in 33 minutes and Danny Green poured in 10 points in 36 minutes. Reserve Gary Neal scored 13 points in 31 minutes.
San Antonio moved out to a 15-5 lead in the first five minutes of the game, but Miami finished the period on a 24-11 spurt and were ahead 29-26 after one quarter. The Heat were able to bump the margin up to double digits at 41-31 with 6:58 left in the first half. The Spurs got an 11-2 edge in the final three minutes of the second quarter as both teams went into halftime tied at 49-49.
Neither team led by more than six points in the third period as Miami led 81-76 after three quarters. The Heat broke out with a 19-9 run at the start of the fourth quarter and were up 100-85 with 5:16 remaining. The Spurs got no closer than 12 points away down the stretch.
