Longtime Miami Herald sports columnist and 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM afternoon host Dan Le Batard will add duties as the afternoon host at ESPN Radio beginning on October 1. He will be joined by co-host Jon Weiner, a.k.a. Stugotz, on the new program which will be based in Miami. They will do a local broadcast from 3 to 4 p.m. on 790 The Ticket and 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM and be simulcast nationally on ESPN Radio from 4 to 7 p.m. Both Le Batard and Weiner have co-hosted the afternoon show on 790 The Ticket since the station flipped to a sports format in August 2004.
Le Batard, a University of Miami grad, has written for the Miami Herald since 1990. He got his first opportunity to host a radio show when he worked Sunday mornings at ESPN Radio back in the early 2000's. He later was a panelist on The Sports Reporters and filled-in as a co-host for Pardon The Interruption on ESPN. He was given the opportunity to host his own television show with his father called Dan Le Batard Is Highly Questionable on ESPN2 in October 2011.
Weiner began in the Miami market as the afternoon producer for the Hank Goldberg Show and a weekend host at Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM. He moved on to 940 Fox Sports Radio WRFX-AM as a weekend host with Toast from 2003 until early 2004. Weiner joined 790 The Ticket as an afternoon sidekick with Le Batard in August 2004. He later picked up the titles of general manager and vice president at that station. He helped out as a show contributor on Miccosukee Sports Rap at Fox Sports Net Florida during the mid-2000's. Weiner has co-hosted The Sports Bang with Florida Panthers television play-by-play announcer Steve Goldstein on WFOR-TV Channel 4 since October 2012.
