In a rematch of the 2013 NBA Finals, the Miami Heat fell to the San Antonio Spurs 111-87 at AT&T Center on Thursday night. The Heat are now 3-23 when they have played a game in San Antonio during their franchise history. It was also their largest defeat of the season.
The Spurs slipped out to an 18-10 advantage six minutes into the game and added a 12-2 spurt to go up 30-16 with two minutes left in the first quarter. By the end of the opening quarter San Antonio(45-16) was ahead 37-22. They had a double-digit margin throughout the second quarter and led 62-51 at halftime.
Miami(43-16) was able to cut the deficit down to six points at 71-65 with 5:09 to go in the third, however the Spurs answered back with seven straight points. The Heat trailed 82-74 as they entered the fourth quarter. They were unable to get as close as eight points during the fourth as they were outscored 29-13.
The Heat got 19 points, seven assists and eight rebounds from LeBron James. Dwyane Wade contributed 14 points and seven assists while Chris Bosh put together 24 points and seven rebounds.
Tim Duncan led the way for the Spurs as he had a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Tony Parker nailed down 17 points and Boris Diaw compiled 16 points along with eight rebounds.
