CBS Radio has fired Miami senior vice president and market manager Joe Bell. He was responsible for radio stations in the Miami cluster which included Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM, WPOW-FM and WKIS-FM. Steve Carver will take over his position in the organization.
Prior to his long reign in Miami, Bell had a tenure as the executive vice president and general manager at WPTF-AM in Raleigh, North Carolina. He moved to Florida to work for Beasley Broadcasting in Fort Myers as the general manager at WJBX-FM.
Bell was transferred by the company to Miami in January 2006 and became the general manager at WQAM-AM and WKIS-FM. He was referenced many times by longtime WQAM midday host Neil Rogers both on-air and in recorded skits as Jolly Joe Bell. He was later promoted to market manager of Beasley Broadcasting Miami. After the cluster of Miami stations were purchased by CBS Radio in December 2014, he was elevated to the title of senior vice president and market manager.
It's about time Jolly Joe got his. Bye bye bye...
