Former Florida Panthers head coach Gerard Gallant has been named the new head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights. They will begin their inaugural season in the National Hockey League this October.
Gallant was the head coach of the Florida Panthers for almost three seasons. He helped the club capture the 2016 Atlantic Division title in his second season. They fell to the New York Islanders in six games during the first round of the playoffs. Gallant was let go by the Panthers in late November 2016. He was under contract with the club until the end of the 2018-19 season.
