790 The Ticket WAXY-AM finished first as the top sports format radio station in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale region. It ended a string of seven consecutive months in which Miami Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM was ahead of the competition.
The Ticket moved up from a 0.8 to a 0.9 in the month of March. The Miami Heat continued their push for an Eastern Conference playoff spot down the stretch as they gained momentum following their long winning streak in the previous month. The addition of Greg Likens as a weekend host helped as the station ended up on top for the first time since July 2016.
WQAM dropped from a 0.9 to a 0.8 in the period and it was their lowest ratings for that station since April 2016. The Florida Panthers were eliminated from postseason contention with 11 days left in the regular season while the Miami Hurricanes basketball team was knocked out early in the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM remained the same with a 0.2 for the sixth straight period. Andy Slater was heard for a couple of days at the end of the ratings period because Miami Marlins exhibition games pre-empted his show throughout the month of March.
