The New York Mets outscored Miami by six runs in the sixth inning as they defeated the Marlins 8-1 on Saturday night at Citi Field. The Fish have lost two of their last eight games.
Miami(59-62) got their only run of the contest in the top of the sixth. Marcell Ozuna knocked in Dee Gordon on a base hit into left field.
The bottom of the sixth came and the Mets compiled seven runs. Matt Reynolds scored on a sacrifice fly by Asdrubal Cabrera to right field. Brandon Nimmo would then score on a fielding error by Miguel Rojas.
Wilmer Flores followed with a two-run homer to left on a 1-0 pitch and Michael Conforto scored. Three batters later, Kevin Plawecki blasted a two-run homer to left field on a 1-2 count to make 7-1.
New York(54-67) added one more run in the eight inning. Dominic Smith sent a home run over the center-field fence on a 2-0 pitch.
