The Washington Nationals pounded the Miami Marlins 10-1 at Nationals Park on Wednesday night. The Fish are now 2-4 on their current road trip.
Washington(67-45) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Ryan Zimmerman socked a solo home run to left field on a 0-2 pitch.
The Nats added several more runs in the bottom of the third. Bryce Harper knocked in Brian Goodwin with a base hit into left. Zimmerman followed with a double into left-center field to score Harper.
Miami(53-59) placed their only run on the scoreboard in the fourth inning. Ichiro Suzuki was able to single into center field which brought in Tyler Moore.
The Nationals extended their margin in the sixth to 8-1. Harper hit a sacrifice fly to left field and Goodwin crossed the plate. Howie Kendrick then drove in Adrian Sanchez and Zimmerman with a base hit into left. In the seventh inning, Zimmerman smacked a two-run homer to right field on a 3-2 count.
