The Chaminade-Madonna Lions head up to Plantation and play the American Heritage Patriots at Heritage Field on Friday night. Both schools made in to the state championship game in Orlando last year. The Patriots captured their third FHSAA Class 5A state title in the last four years while the Lions fell in the Class 3A championship game.
Chaminade-Madonna(1-1) played their first two game on the road against tough competition. They lost to Miami Central 48-24 in Week 1 and got by Miramar 14-13 in Week 2.
The emphasis of the Lions offense will come from running back Shaun Shivers. Wide receiver Xavier Williams is looked upon as the deep threat on receptions while Marlin Mayo can catch the short-range passes. Quarterbacks Quinn Dempsey and Daeien Menard call the signals on offense.
American Heritage(2-0) have not yet played a high school based in the state of Florida. They went to Virginia and beat Bishop Sullivan Catholic 14-7 followed by a home shutout victory over Liberty 31-0.
The Patriots are led by quarterback Cam Smith with a backfield that consist of running backs Jordan Johnson, Miles Jones and Tyler Jones. American Heritage has a set of wide receivers that includes Anthony Schwartz, Joshua Alexander and Tyler March.
