Joe Colella left his position as the evening host and afternoon sports anchor at ESPN West Palm 106.3 WUUB-FM on Friday. He is leaving the radio industry and will soon be involved with content marketing.
He has been part of Good Karma Broadcasting in West Palm Beach for over a decade. Colella began as an intern at ESPN Radio 760 WEFL-AM in 2003, followed by a stint as a producer and then worked as an on-air talent. He began to co-host weekend shows at ESPN West Palm in January 2013.
Colella was elevated to evening producer and sidekick to The Home Team show with Josh Cohen in August 2013 and moved to middays along with the program in January 2014 as he added sports anchor duties. He became a part of the Evan Cohen afternoon program in January 2015 as a sports anchor and contributor. Colella co-hosted High School Hysteria on Friday nights and was a studio host for Oxbridge Academy high school football broadcasts in 2015 and 2016.
He was named the new evening co-host in January 2017 and was joined by co-host Chris Kokell. They hosted the program together for several months until this summer when Kokell left for a high school football coaching position. Colella worked with fill-in co-hosts that included Mike Mreczko and Nolan Murphy over the last couple of months.
