The Pahokee Blue Devils begin their playoff path on Friday night with a regional semifinal against the Williston Red Devils at Anquan Boldin Stadium. The Blue Devils captured the Class 1A state crown in Orlando last December, however they were stripped of the title due to an ineligible player.
Williston(5-5) won their first two games in the regular season and then went on a four-game losing streak. They have outscored their opponents 283-280 this season.
Running back Gerard Williams III will get most of the carries from the backfield along with Quinyon Mitchell. The Red Devils have C.J. Strange at quarterback and he looks to connect passes to wide receivers Jeremiah Jones, Albert Fuller and Jermon Collins.
Pahokee(7-2) comes into the game on an emotional high as they beat their local rival Glades Central in overtime at the Muck Bowl last week. The Blue Devils have compiled victories over large schools Palm Beach Lakes, Boynton Beach, Palm Beach Gardens and Seminole Ridge while they lost to road games to Vero Beach and Cocoa. They have outscored their opponents 184-161 this season.
The Blue Devils are expected to execute rushing plays with running backs Jatarie Washington and LeVonski Williams. Quarterback Deonte Nelson will release passes to wide receivers Tyler Gilbert and Lonkevious McFadden.
