It was the return of Marcell Ozuna to South Florida as the Miami Marlins beat the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1 at Marlins Park on Monday night. The Marlins were able to snap a six-game losing streak with the victory.
Miami(47-67) jumped on the Redbirds in the first inning and scored their first run with none out. Derek Dietrich hit a lead-off double and then scored on a Brian Anderson soft base hit through the right side of the infield.
The Marlins took a 2-0 lead during the bottom of the fourth. Starlin Castro smacked a solo home run to left field on a 1-0 pitch for his ninth homer of the season.
St. Louis(58-55) broke the shutout in the ninth inning. Matt Carpenter walked with the bases loaded and one out for Paul DeJong to cross the plate. Yadier Molina grounded into a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.
