Two Central Boca Raton high schools met on Thursday night as the Olympic Heights Lions belted the Spanish River Sharks 42-7. The Lions put together 42 unanswered points during the first half.
The start of the game began with a bang as Olympic Heights(2-0) scored on the first play of the contest. A.J. Wicihowski returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown 16 seconds into the first quarter.
Lions quarterback Connor Hone sent a pass to the right side of the end zone where wide receiver Aaron Jacobs caught it for a 15-yard touchdown. They led 14-0 with 3:44 left in the first quarter.
O.H. compiled three touchdowns in under a two-minute span during the second quarter. Wide receiver Jack Coulson made an 87-yard reception from Hone for a score at the 10:47 mark.
Spanish River(0-2) fumbled the ball away on the ensuing kickoff and the Lions capitalized on it two plays later. Coulson caught a pass from Hone on the front right side of the end zone to complete an 18-yard touchdown at 9:59.
The Sharks went three-and-out on their next possession. Christian Ippolito blocked the punt and returned it 12 yards for a touchdown with 9:25 to go in the second.
The Lions made it a 42-point margin with 3:42 remaining in the first half. Hone connected a 24-yard pass to Jacobs on the left sideline.
There was a running clock for the entire second half. Spanish River finally got into the end zone at 3:55 of the third quarter. Quarterback Connor Tribby fired a long pass down the left side of the field for a 34-yard touchdown reception.
