The Dwyer Panthers took care of the Palm Beach Gardens Gators 42-7 on Friday night at Blum Stadium in this northern Palm Beach County rivalry. The Panthers beat the Gators for the 10th consecutive time.
Dwyer(4-1) struck quickly on the first play of the game. Gators quarterback David Studstill threw an interception on a swing pass to the left side and it was returned by defensive back Antavious Lane 23 yards for the score 14 seconds into the first quarter.
The Panthers continued to roll as they scored on their first possession. Quarterback Gio Richardson pushed through the middle from one yard out at the 7:47 mark for a 14-0 lead.
In the second quarter, they increased their margin to 21 points. Following a 41-yard pass by Richardson to wide receiver Myron Levy on the left sideline, running back Bobby Armes rushed out of the wildcat formation from four yards away for the score at 8:28.
The defense of Dwyer placed another touchdown with 1:02 left in the first half to make it 28-0. Studstill tossed a lateral pass to the left side and it was picked off by defensive back Colbein Clayton for a 31-yard touchdown.
Palm Beach Gardens(3-2) changed the pace of the contest at the start of the second half as they recovered an on-side kick. Following a Studstill completed 28-yard screen pass to running back Antonio Outler on the left sideline, Outler took an option handoff around the right end and scored a 10-yard touchdown at 10:05 of the third.
Dwyer responded immediately on the ensuing Gardens kickoff as Tanner Franklin returned the ball 87 yards down the left side for a touchdown 16 seconds later and they led 35-7.
The Panthers scored early in the fourth quarter with 10:20 left. Sataria Haliburton rambled through the right side of the line for a one-yard touchdown. A running clock was used for the remainder of the game.
