The Miami Hurricanes dominated the FIU Panthers 31-17 on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium. The Canes scored 31 unanswered points to start of the contest and were never in danger of losing.
Miami(3-1) made it 7-0 at 2:59 of the first quarter. Traivs Homer, an Oxbridge Academy grad, sprinted for a 35-yard touchdown up the middle.
At the start of the second quarter, quarterback N'Kosi Perry made a 26-yard pass to wide receiver Lawrence Cager in the end zone. Bubba Baxa added a 30-yard field goal at the 2:35 mark. Perry connected a pass from 12 yards away to tight end Brevin Jordan with 32 second left in the second.
The Canes extended their margin to 31 points at 7:58 of the third quarter. Cager caught another touchdown pass from Perry on a 17-yard connection.
FIU(2-2) put up 17 points in the fourth quarter after the game had been decided. Quarterback James Morgan fired a 35-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver C.J. Worton with 7:03 remaining.
Jose Borregales kicked a 28-yard field goal at the 3:24 mark for the Panthers. Morgan found Worton again on a five-yard touchdown strike with 1:43 left.
