The Miami Marlins were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Wednesday at Nationals Park. The Fish finish the regular season in New York against the Mets.
Washington(81-78) put up a five spot in the second inning. Spencer Kieboom barely got the ball out of the middle of the infield for a base hit with the bases loaded as Juan Soto and Ryan Zimmerman scored. A throwing error by Chad Wallach during a rundown made Adrian Sanchez come home to make it 3-0. Victor Robles came up next and fisted a single down the right-field line for Kieboom and Kyle McGowin to score.
In the fifth inning, the Nationals compiled four more runs for a nine-run gap. Robles knocked in Mark Reynolds with a single into center field. Robles later smashed a three-run homer to left on a 1-1 pitch which brought in Sanchez and Kieboom.
Miami(62-96) got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh. Brian Anderson cracked a three-run home run to left field on a 3-2 count that scored Wallach and Lewis Brinson. The game was stopped in the eighth inning due to a rain delay and it was never resumed.
