The Seminole Ridge Hawks travel to Wellington and challenge the Wolverines in a District 9, Class 8A battle on Friday night. Both schools look to break away from the rest of the schools in the district.
Seminole Ridge(4-0, 1-0) is undefeated and has wins over Santaluces, Suncoast, Palm Beach Gardens and Boynton Beach. Their toughest game this season was a home overtime victory over Gardens. They have outscored their opponents 131-55 this year.
The Hawks offense has quarterback Kalmyn Castilla led the way. Running back Corey Polk will get most of the carries and Ethan Forman can get an occasional handoff. Castilla can look for wide receivers Brandon Schabert and Karsten Costain down the field.
Wellington(3-2, 0-1) has interchanged victories and defeats this season. The Wolverines have defeated Royal Palm Beach, Park Vista and John I. Leonard. They lost to Vero Beach along with Palm Beach Central.
The focal point on the Wolverines offense is running back Marc-Antony Richards. He can carry the ball from the backfield and sometimes line up as a wide receiver. Running back Jadien Durant will also be used for rushing attempts. Austin Wallace and Blake Kendall Jr. can both play in the quarterback position.
