Local rivals face each other on Friday night in Class 8A, District 9 as the Wellington Wolverines head to Palm Beach Central and challenge the Broncos. It is the first district game of the season for both schools.
Wellington(2-1) have been on both ends this season with a home shutout win 38-0 over Royal Palm Beach, a road shutout loss 46-0 to Vero Beach and a close win at Park Vista 14-8.
Their top player running back Mark-Antony Richards saw less action last week against the Cobras, however he is expected to be involved in more plays in this contest. The Wolverines have a quarterback-by-committee concept with Austin Wallace, Blake Kendall Jr. and Matthew Shannon. Their running attack consists of Richards and Jadien Durant.
Palm Beach Central(2-1) had a season opening loss at Atlantic 14-0 before they got two home victories over Dade County schools Ferguson 48-0 and Braddock 63-7. They have outscored their opponents 101-21 this season.
The Broncos can go with either Anarjahe Douriet and Mike Moreland at quarterback on any play. Wide receivers expected to make pass receptions include Bryan Robinson, Gen'taris Oliver and Kaishawn Curry. Look for cornerback Akeem Dent to lead their defense.
