The Duke Blue Devils got by the Miami Hurricanes 20-12 at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday night. The Canes extended their losing streak to three games. The Blue Devils won their first game in Miami since 1976.
Duke(6-3, 2-3) got the initial score early in the first quarter. Deon Jackson ran the ball 75 yards on their first play on offense at 14:48 for a 7-0 lead
Miami(5-4, 2-3) gathered all their points in the contest during the second quarter. Running back DeeJay Dallas rushed to the right side and scored from 83 yards away at the 13:14 mark and were down 7-6.
The Canes got their only lead with 7:26 left in the first half. Running back Travis Homer raced up the middle for a six-yard touchdown.
The Blue Devils held the Hurricanes to no points during the second half. Duke got a 27-yard field from Collin Wareham at 9:32 of the third quarter.
They regained the lead 17-12 when quarterback Quentin Harris threw a two-yard touchdown pass to tight end Daniel Helm with 18 seconds to go. The Blue Devils picked up some insurance in the fourth quarter as Wareham connected on a 33-yard field goal with 9:14 left.
