The Dwyer Panthers host the West Broward Bobcats at Blum Stadium in Palm Beach Gardens on Friday night. They will compete in a Class 7A regional quarterfinal.
West Broward(7-3) have suffered losses to playoff-bound teams Plantation, McArthur and Fort Lauderdale. After a 1-2 start, the Bobcats have won six of the last seven games. They have a 4-1 record in games decided by seven points or less.
The Bobcats will come out with a wing-t formation on offense. They will use running back Dominic Tianga as their primary rusher along with wide receivers Jason Montes and Jason O'Keefe. Wide receiver Ignacio Wallace and running back Jaylen Graham could see an occasional carry.
Dwyer(9-1) won the District 13 crown and have beaten every team on their schedule except for Atlantic during Week 2. They enter the contest on an eight-game winning streak and had a bye last week. The Panthers have outscored their opponents 415-79 this year and 280-22 in their last six games.
The Panthers have experience playoff personnel with three players who transferred from Oxbridge Academy and played in the FHSAA Class 3A championship game last year. Linebacker Antavious Lane anchors their defense. Two players that were with the Thunderwolves in 2017 are quarterback Gio Richardson and running back James Meeks. Both of them can make an impact on offense. The Dwyer rushing attack can also rely on running backs Bobby Armes, Cedric Tucker, Ernest Blackshear and Sataria Haliburton. Richardson looks to find wide receivers Tanner Franklin, Reggie Gadsen, Jamari Gaines, Nick Bingo, Myron Levy and Connor Nagle.
