Former West Palm Beach television sportscaster Tony Calatayud will be hosting a late morning program on 1210 The Man WNMA-AM as of March 23. He is the president and CEO of Cielo Media Holdings and they currently operate that radio station.
Calatayud was a sports anchor at WPBF-TV Channel 25 in West Palm Beach during the 1990s. He along with his business partner and former Florida Marlins first baseman Orestes Destrade decided to start a sports radio format station in Miami. 1700 The Fan WAFN-AM was launched in September 1999 and lasted until December 2000. Talent that worked at that station included Jorge Sedano, Armando Salguero, Jim Berry, Craig Mish, Manny Munoz and John Renshaw.
Several years later, Calatayud joins Salem Media Group in Miami as general manager of several stations which included WKAT-AM 1360 and WZAB-AM 880. He added national duties as the president of the Spanish division for Salem Media Group. Calatayud became the radio play-by-play announcer for FIU football from 2011 until 2013. His game analyst for those contests was former WSVN-TV Channel 7 and WTVJ-TV Channel 6 news anchor Rick Sanchez.
Anthony Calatayud will be an on-air sidekick on the show. He was a producer at Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM until 2018. He recently has been working as a producer for ESPN podcasts in Connecticut.
