The Miami Marlins played their first interleague game of the season and held off the Cleveland Indians 3-1 at Progressive Field on Tuesday night. The Fish have won three of their last four games. The Indians only compiled three hits in the contest.
Miami(7-16) put together all their scoring during the top of the fifth inning. Jorge Alfaro led off with a solo home run to right field on the first pitch. It was his fourth homer of the year.
Four batters later, Curtis Granderson doubled into deep right field and Issac Galloway crossed the plate. Martin Prado came up next and hit a sacrifice fly to right which scored Jon Berti.
Cleveland(12-10) got on the scoreboard in the seventh inning. Tyler Naquin knocked in Carlos Gonzalez with a base hit into center field.
