The Cleveland Indians got by the Miami Marlins 6-2 on Wednesday at Progressive Field. It was the second game of a two-game series between both clubs. They will meet again next week in Miami.
The Indians jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Jose Ramirez blasted a solo home run to right field on the first pitch.
Cleveland(13-10) made it 2-0 during the third inning. Ramirez knocked in Leonys Martin with a base hit into center field.
Miami(7-17) was able to respond in the top of the fifth. Jon Berti hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Jorge Alfaro crossed the plate.
In the eighth inning, the Marlins evened it up 2-2. Martin Prado powered a homer over the left-field wall on a 1-2 count.
The Tribe placed four runs in the bottom of the frame. Jake Bauers drove in Carlos Gonzalez on a single to center. Francisco Lindor then singled to right-center field for Jason Kipnis to score. Buaers and Lindor would later score on a Ramirez double into deep right field.
