The Deerfield Beach Bucks challenge the St. Thomas Aquinas at Brian Piccolo Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Friday night. It is a contest that people in Broward County have looked forward to all year. Both schools currently are in first place in their districts.
Deerfield Beach(5-2) has compiled four shutouts this year and are on a five-game winning streak. They have outscored their last five opponents 250-6 and prevailed over Spanish River 64-0 last week. Wide receiver Xavier Restrepo transferred from St. Thomas Aquinas to the Bucks earlier this year. He along with Deajaun McDougle, Bryce Gowdy, Alex Henningham and Derohn King can make pass receptions from quarterback Michael Pratt. Running back Jaylan Knighton will get the majority of carries for their rushing attack.
St. Thomas Aquinas(6-0) is undefeated and have outscored their opponents 257-66 this season. STA has beaten De La Salle, South Plantation, Miramar, Carol City, FHSAA Class 8A champion Mandarin and last week blanked district rival Plantation 35-0. Raiders quarterback Zion Turner looks to guide their offense with passes to wide receivers Marcus Rosemy, The'Andris Freeman and Jahvante Royal. Running back Jaedon Henry is expected to get his rushing opportunities from the backfield.
