The John I. Leonard Lancers drive five miles down Military Trail and face the Santaluces Chiefs on Friday night. It is a battle between two schools in District 11-8A.
John I. Leonard(2-5) won their season opener and then lost five consecutive games. The Lancers stopped the losing streak with a 27-20 victory over West Boca Raton last week. Quarterback Jadiel Cruz leads their team on offense. He intends to find wide receivers Jonel Dieujuste, Ahmad Orange and Brandon McCrary for pass receptions. They can go with running backs Henry Dean and Kenneth Charles on rushing opportunities.
After a season-opening lost to Forest Hill, Santaluces(4-1) have won four straight games against West Boca Raton, Cardinal Newman, Lake Worth, Spanish River. They have outscored their last three opponents 88-19. The Chiefs have a powerful rushing attack and will depend on running back Val Carnegie on the majority of their carries from the backfield.
