The Deerfield Beach Bucks head into Palm Beach County and challenge the Palm Beach Central Broncos in a Class 8A regional semifinal on Friday night. Both schools faced each other in regional final last year and the Bucks prevailed over the Broncos 24-13.
Deerfield Beach(8-3) has won three straight and eight of their last nine games. They have compiled five shutouts this season and outscored their opponents 399-61 in the last nine contests. The Bucks can go with Derohn King or Michael Pratt in the quarterback position. Wide receivers Deajaun McDougle, Xavier Restrepo, Bryce Gowdy, Alex Henningham and Deltavian Jenkins are expected to make pass receptions. Their rushing game will have running backs Jaylan Knighton and Jaziun Patterson carrying the ball.
Palm Beach Central(9-2) have won five consecutive games and has a 4-2 record at home. They edged Centennial 49-42 in the first round last week. The Broncos have scored at least 28 points per game in every victory this season. Quarterback Anarjahe Douriet can fire passes to wide receivers Bryan Robinson and Cedric Johnson. Expect running back Jordan Kolnick to move the ball from the backfield.
