It was a playoff rematch with the same result as the Deerfield Beach Bucks defeated the Palm Beach Central Broncos 44-6 in a Class 8A regional semifinal on Friday night. The Bucks prevailed over the Broncos last year in the regional final. They will face the Vero Beach Indians in the regional final next week.
The Bucks turned over the ball with a fumble on their first possession at the Broncos 25-yard line. Palm Beach Central(9-3) got the lead 6-0 when quarterback Anarjahe Douriet raced to the left side and scored from eight yards away at 7:07 of the first quarter.
Deerfield Beach(9-3) answered back quickly 13 seconds later on the ensuing kickoff to take a 7-6 lead. Joseph Kennerly caught the back and sprinted down the left sideline for a 90-yard kickoff return for a score.
The Bucks made it 14-6 with 1:55 left in the first. Quarterback Michael Pratt scrambled out of the pocket to the right hash marks and went untouched in the end zone from 12 yards out.
In the second quarter, they took advantage of a bad punt and extended their lead at the 11:08 mark. Wide receiver Xavier Restrepo caught a 37-yard touchdown pass in the front left corner of the end zone from Pratt.
It became 28-6 for Deerfield Beach with 6:42 to go in the quarter. Pratt connected a deep 35-yard pass up the middle to wide receiver Deajaun McDougle.
The Bucks continued the rout in the second half. Running back Jaziun Patterson went around the left side from five yards away at 7:46 of the third quarter to move ahead 35-6.
On their next drive, Patterson capped it off as he blasted up the middle on an 11-yard touchdown run at the 5:25 mark for a 36-point margin of 42-6. A running clock was used for the rest of the contest.
The Broncos surrendered a safety with 23 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Dateroius Lee blocked a Kevin Nievas punt out of the back of the end zone.
