15 South Florida high schools advanced to the third round of the 2019 FHSAA playoffs. There were 29 teams that headed into the second round.
Palm Beach County dropped from six schools to only two. Atlantic and Pahokee were victorious while Palm Beach Lakes, Palm Beach Central, American Heritage and Benjamin lost.
Broward County went from 12 high schools to eight. St. Thomas Aquinas, Deerfield Beach, Dillard, Cardinal Gibbons, American Heritage, Western, Chaminade-Madonna and Calvary Christian won. Plantation, McArthur, University School and Westminster Academy were defeated.
Dade County fell from 13 teams to five. Miami Northwestern, Miami Central, Booker T. Washington, Columbus and Champagnat Catholic moved on. Miami Palmetto, Edison, Killian, Gulliver Prep, Miami, North Miami Beach, Somerset Silver Palms and Miami Christian dropped their contests.
