The Miami Northwestern visit Broward County and take on the American Heritage Patriots at Heritage Field on Friday. Both schools are the top two seeds in Region 4 for this regional final.
Miami Northwestern(10-2) have put together five shutouts this year and outscored their last six opponents 297-23. The two-time defending FHSAA Class 6A state champions pounded Stranahan 63-0 in the regional quarterfinal and smashed Killian 47-3 in the second round last week. The focal point on the Bulls offense will be running back Nathaniel Noel and he is expected to get the majority of rushing attempts. They can go with Taron Dickens or Kamani Brown at quarterback on any play. Wide receivers Kahill Brantley, Marcus Fleming, Romello Brinson, Jalen Rogers, Baron Grant and Zaylan-Reese Pittman are the main targets downfield.
American Heritage(10-1) have won 10 consecutive games and outscored their last five opponents 241-34. The Patriots have captured four FHSAA Class 5A titles in the last six seasons. They knocked off Key West 53-15 in the first round and shut out North Miami Beach 44-0 last week in a regional semifinal. Edwin Rhodes is a dual quarterback and has the ability to pass along with running the ball on any occasion. They have a core of wide receivers that includes Douglas Emilien, Jacolby Spells, Zachhaeus Byrd, Oronde Gadsden II and Vinson Davis. Running backs Carlson Joseph, Mark Fletcher and Jerry Dinkins and look to gain yardage.
