The NASCAR Cup Series presented the Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday and Denny Hamlin took the checkered flag. It was the fourth NASCAR race held at that venue this weekend. The season finale of the NASCAR Cup Series, which is where the season championship trophy is presented, was not raced there for the first time since 2001.
The initial start of the Dixie Vodka 400 was delayed due to a rain delay. There was a red-flag caution during the fifth lap to stop the race completely for over two hours.
During the Stage 3 portion of the contest, Hamlin took the lead from Chase Elliott with 30 laps remaining in the race and held off the rest of the field. Elliott finished in second place while Ryan Blaney got third.
