The Miami Marlins have acquired pitcher J.T. Chargois and infielder Xavier Edwards from the Tampa Bay Rays for pitcher Marcus Johnson and pitcher Santiago Suarez. It was a way for the Rays to purge their 40-man roster with too much talent in their organization to protect.
Chargois was 2-0 with a 2.42 earned run average in 21 appearances in Tampa Bay this past season. Edwards has not yet appeared in the majors and spent 2022 with the Rays Triple-A affiliate in Durham.
