The #9 Florida Atlantic University got by the #16 Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights 78-70 in the second round of the East Region in Columbus, Ohio. The Owls advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. They will challenge the University of Tennessee at Madison Square Garden on Thursday.
FAU was able to take a 32-25 halftime lead. The Owls had a 67-64 lead with three minutes remaining in the second half and went on an 11-3 spurt down the stretch. Johnell Davis became the first player in NCAA Tournament history to have 29 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and five steals.
