American Heritage Edged By Berkeley Prep

     The American Heritage Patriots fell to the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers 17-14 at Heritage Field in Plantation on Friday night in a FHSAA Class 2M state semifinal. The Patriots will not appear in the title game for the second straight time. 

     Berkeley Prep(12-2) scooted out to a 7-0 lead with three minutes to go in the first quarter. American Heritage(10-2) answered back two minutes later to tie it 7-7. The Buccaneers picked up a safety early in the second quarter. The Patriots reached the end zone with four minutes left in the first half and took their first lead 14-9. The Bulldogs chalked up a touchdown and a two-point conversion early in the fourth quarter for a 17-14 advantage.
