Bryan Murray Passes Away

     Former Florida Panthers hockey executive Bryan Murray passed away over the weekend at the age of 74. He recently was the general manager of the Ottawa Senators from 2007 to 2016.
     Murray became the second general manager in Florida Panthers franchise history before the 1994-95 season when he took over for Bobby Clarke. He later replaced Doug MacLean as the third head coach of the club in November 1997. The Panthers were Eastern Conference champions in 1996 before they were swept by the Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Finals.
     Prior to the his arrival in Florida, Murray was the head coach of the Washington Capitals. He moved to the head coach and the general manager positions of the Detroit Red Wings. Following his stint in Florida, Murray became the Anaheim Mighty Ducks head coach and was elevated to general manager. He helped that organization win a Western Conference title in 2003 and they lost a seven-game series to the New Jersey Devils in the Stanley Cup Finals.
     Murray headed the Senators where they captured an Eastern Conference title in 2007. They were defeated in the Stanley Cup Finals to his former club Anaheim.
