Boynton Beach native Vince Wilfork has retired from the National Football League. He participated as a defensive lineman in the NFL for 13 seasons with the New England Patriots and Houston Texans.
Wilfork played high school football with the Santaluces Chiefs and the team had their best seasons in the past 20 years. He went on to the University of Miami Hurricanes and won a BCS National Championship in 2001.
He was drafted by the New England Patriots during the first round in 2004. Wilfork helped that franchise win two world championships by capturing Super Bowl 39 over the Philadelphia Eagles and Super Bowl 49 over the Seattle Seahawks. The team won four AFC titles while he was on the squad.
Wilfork, who made the Pro Bowl five times, finished his final two seasons with the Houston Texans. He got them to the AFC Championship Game in 2016 where they lost to the Patriots.
