The Miami Marlins fell to the Atlanta Braves 9-1 at SunTrust Park on Monday. It was the first game of a doubleheader between both clubs.
Atlanta(65-51) scored on their first at-bat of the contest. Ronald Acuna Jr. bashes a solo home run to right-center field on a 3-1 pitch.
In the second inning, Miami(48-72) tied it 1-1. Derek Dietrich scored on a base hit by Isaac Galloway into deep right-center field.
The Marlins lost the lead in the next inning. Johan Camargo knocked in Nick Markakis on a double to left field. Atlanta added another run in the fifth when Freddie Freeman hit a sacrifice fly to left and Ocuna crossed the plate.
The Braves compiled five more runs in the sixth inning. Charlie Culberson doubled to the warning track in center field which scored Camargo. After Adam Duvall walked to load the bases, Ocuna followed with a double to left-center field as Kurt Suzuki and Culberson scored. Ozzie Albies then lined a single into center field to score Duvall and Ocuna scored.
Atlanta loaded the bases again during the eighth inning with one out. Acuna smashed the ball to the center-field wall where it bounced off the glove of Galloway for a long single. Suzuki was able to score on the play.
