The defending FHSAA Class 3A state champion Chaminade-Madonna Lions visit the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders on Friday night in a state semifinal. The winner of this contest will play at Camping World Stadium in Orlando on December 8 for the state title.
Chaminade-Madonna(10-2) have won six straight games and received a bye in the first round based on the new playoff format. The Lions pounded Palmer Trinity 62-0 in the regional semifinal and handled American Heritage 14-3 last week in the regional final. They have outscored their opponents 431-119 and compiled five shutouts this season. They have allowed only three points in their last four contests.
The Lions can move the ball with running backs Thaddius Franklin and Willie Davis IV on their rushing attack. Quarterback Daelen Menard has a slew of wide receivers to pass the ball to that includes John Dunmore, Jordan Cash and Rony Bourdeau.
Clearwater Central Catholic(12-0) have outscored their opponents 473-139 this season. The Marauders dumped Tampa Catholic 30-3 in a regional semifinal and got defeated Berkeley Prep 35-7 in a regional final.
