The Miami Central Rockets travel north and take on the Palmetto Tigers on Friday night in a Class 6A state semifinal.
Miami Central(10-3) has scored at least 32 points in every win this year and have compiled shutouts in two of their three playoff games. They shut out Dunbar 38-0 in the regional quarterfinal, took Naples 56-23 in the regional semifinal and blanked Dillard 35-0 last week in the regional final. Rockets quarterback Katravis Marsh looks to find wide receivers Shamar Zaragoza, Geovanni Ribalta, Chamon Metayer and Yulkeith Brown on passing attempts. Running backs Kejon Owens and Amari Daniels will split the carries from the backfield.
Palmetto(12-1) are currently on a four-game winning streak and host their fourth playoff game of the postseason. The Tigers had victories over Braden River 24-21 in the regional quarterfinal, Port Charlotte 23-17 in the regional semifinal and Charlotte 62-15 in the regional final. Quarterback Xavier Williams will led their offense and connect passes to wide receivers Lajohntay Wester, Eddravian Butler, Curtis Thomas, Kobe Mays, Kevion Williams and Zorian Geathers. Running back Sagel Hickson will get the majority of rushing opportunities.
