Miami Ratings September 2013

It is a new era in South Florida sports talk radio as 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM captured the top spot in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale region for the month of September. Their sister-station 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM which they simulcast with will no longer be considered a separate entity in terms of monthly ratings.
Lincoln Financial Media purchased the 104.3 FM frequency back in late August 2012 and began to simulcast 790 The Ticket on it even though the transmitter was located south of Wellington in Palm Beach County. The signal was eventually moved to a Miramar transmitter during this past summer.
104.3 The Ticket rocketed from a 0.4 to a 1.0 during the month of September. The station received top status during station identification over 790 The Ticket as Lincoln Financial Media put more emphasis toward it in order to get a larger audience share. The return of live programs from the Dan Le Batard Show certainly did help.
Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM finished in second place for the first time since June as they improved from a 0.7 to a 0.9 in September. The station made a shift in the lineup as Jorge Sedano left for ESPN Radio in August. They seemed not to falter with the afternoon show comprised of former evening show co-host and afternoon sidekick Brandon Guzio along with former Miami Dolphins player and early afternoon co-host Channing Crowder. They did not loss any ground with Adam Kuperstein now joined on the early afternoon program by Curtis Stevenson. WQAM also got a bump in the ratings with the great start by the University of Miami Hurricanes football team.
940 The Sports Animal WINZ-AM improved for the first time in four months as they rose from a 0.2 to a 0.3 for September. The Miami Dolphins began the regular season on the upside during the ratings period. Their local programs showed improvement as The Finsiders show with Jesse Agler began to simulcast on Fox Sports Florida and the combination of Steve Goldstein along with Jeff DeForrest guided the morning show. Phil Domanic and Troy Stradford succeeded with the use of just two voices on their mid-afternoon show after the departure of The Amigo Larry Milian.
