Teddy Bridgewater Act

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Teddy Bridgewater Act on Friday. It will have an impact on Florida high school athletics.
It allows a coach to use their own money to help high school players with expenses. Bridgewater was the head football coach of the Miami Northwestern Bulls when they captured the 2024 FHSAA Class 3A state championship. There was a controversy that he paid for items that went to his players on the high school football team and he was suspended from coaching for the 2025 season.

Good Karma Brands had not registered a West Palm Beach radio station with a ratings service since February 2012. The last time it was done by them was when they were known as Good Karma Broadcasting with ESPN Radio 760 WEFL-AM.

Rece Hinds Traded To Marlins

The Miami Marlins have acquired outfielder Rece Hinds from the Cincinnati Reds. The Marlins have sent him down to their Triple-A affiliate in Jacksonville.
Hinds has played the past three seasons with the Reds. He compiled seven home runs, 19 runs batted in and a .172 batting average in 51 games with Cincinnati.

West Palm Beach Ratings April 2026

The ratings were released for sports talk format radio stations in the West Palm Beach area. The time span went from the first week of April to the final week of April.
The biggest shock was that ESPN West Palm 106.3 WESP-AM was registered and listed in a ratings report for the first time ever. They ended up with a 0.6 in the ratings and finished in first place among the three local competitors. The last time a Good Karma Brands sports radio station in West Palm Beach appeared in the ratings book was ESPN Radio 760 WEFL-AM in February 2012.
ESPN West Palm became the West Palm Beach affiliate of the Miami Marlins Radio Network in March. WESP-AM is the flagship station of Inter Miami CF as the defending MLS Cup champions began their 2026 season with a 5-1-4 record. The Florida Panthers concluded their season as the reigning two-time Stanley Cup champions and failed to reach the postseason for the first time since 2018-19. The Miami Heat got to the NBA Play-In Tournament and lost to the Charlotte Hornets. The radio station has a couple of local weekday shows which includes Colin Russo and Mike Rizzo hosting afternoon drive along with Theo Dorsey. Christian Katt and Tina Costanza co-hosting a mid-afternoon program.
Fox Sports 640 South Florida WMEN-AM moved up from a 0.2 to a 0.3 in the month. The recent addition of an afternoon show with Ken LaVicka and Josh Cohen in January has started to make an impact.
Sports Radio 1230 The Gambler WBZT-AM shifted from a 0.2 to a 0.0 in the period. The radio station had no play-by-play game broadcasts after they lost the radio affiliate rights to Miami Marlins contests earlier this year.

Braves Outslug Marlins

The Atlanta Braves powered by the Miami Marlins 9-3 on Thursday night at loanDepot park. Both teams completed a four-game series against each other.
The Braves have the best record in the National League. The Marlins, who dropped to last place, are 13 games behind for first place in the National League East Division and will host the New York Mets this weekend.
Atlanta(35-16) rolled out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Ronald Acuna Jr. led off with an infield base hit and Michael Harris II followed with a two-run homer to right-center field on a 1-2 pitch for his 10th home run of the season.

The Buffalo Sabres have extended the contract of head coach Lindy Ruff for another two years. He led his team to the Atlantic Division title this season and ended a 15-year postseason drought.
Ruff was an assistant coach of the Florida Panthers during their first four seasons in franchise history from 1993-94 to 1996-97. He was named the Sabres head coach prior to the 1997-98 campaign to start his first coaching stint with that club.

Salvon Ahmed Lands With Bears

One-time Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed is off to the Chicago Bears. He has not played in a National Football League contest for the past two years.
Ahmed participated with Miami for four seasons from 2020 to 2023. He chalked up 163 carries for 593 rushing yards and five touchdowns in 38 games with the Dolphins.

Lions Ink Cedrick Wilson Jr.

Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. has signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions. It is unknown how much the deal was worth.
Wilson finished off his second stint with the Fins in 2025. He ended up with five pass receptions for 44 receiving yards in 10 contests last season. Wilson did play two seasons with Miami in 2022 and 2023.

Reynolds had a short stint while in South Florida. He was the morning host on 560 WQAM-AM from January 1992 until early 1993.

Braves Stomp Marlins

The Atlanta Braves bashed the Miami Marlins 9-1 at loanDepot park on Wednesday night. Their four-game series will conclude tomorrow. Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale now has a 7-3 record with a 1,89 earned run average in 10 starts this year. The Marlins have lost 11 of their last 17 games.

Good Karma Brands In Radio Ratings

ESPN West Palm 106.3 WESP-FM parent company Good Karma Brands has registered with the Nielsen radio ratings. Their owned radio stations of WEPN-AM in New York City, KSPN-AM in Los Angeles and WMVP-AM in Chicago appeared in the April 2026 ratings results on Monday.
All three stations were purchased by Good Karma Brands and the acquisitions were eventfully completed in March 2022. Their registration with the radio ratings lasted until December 2023.
It will be known on Thursday if ESPN West Palm Beach 106.3 WESP-FM will show up in the West Palm Beach ratings for April 2026. The last time a Good Karma Brands West Palm Beach radio station was registered was ESPN Radio 760 WEFL-AM in the Arbitron radio ratings back in February 2012.
There are several reasons why Good Karma Brands had stopped registering with radio ratings services. Their sports radio stations were usually second to their main competitor in each individual media market they were located in. It was an additional expense for them to pay to have access and use a ratings company data. They expanded into the digital area of marketing along with other forms of advertising and no longer relied on radio ratings.

Miami Ratings April 2026

The ratings were issued for sports talk format radio stations in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area. The time span was from the first week in April to the last week in April.
104.3 Sports WQAM-FM moved from a 0.8 to a 0.9 in the period. The Miami Marlins had a 15-16 record one month into the 2026 regular season and were second in the National League East Division. The Miami Heat reached the NBA Play-In Tournament as the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference and were eliminated by the Charlotte Hornets. The Florida Panthers finished off their two-time Stanley Cup title reign and 2025-26 campaign not making the postseason for the first time in seven years.
Fox Sports 940 WINZ-AM rose to a 0.4 after two months at a 0.3. It was unusual for the increase because this was the first complete month since September 2013 that WINZ did not air Miami Marlins contests. WZTU-FM-HD2 with the WINZ stream improved to 0.4 following three months at 0.1.
Fox Sports 640 South Florida WMEN-AM remained at a 0.1 for the third straight month. They did not have any play-by-play radio game broadcasts. The addition of a new afternoon show with Ken LaVicka and Josh Cohen back in January has not helped matters.

Braves Ride By Marlins

The Atlanta Braves dropped the Miami Marlins 8-4 on Tuesday at loanDepot park. It was a rare Tuesday mid-afternoon game held in South Florida.

Miami(22-27) responded with three runs in the bottom of the first and were up 3-2. Xavier Edwards led off with a solo home run to left field on a 1-0 count for his sixth homer of the campaign. Five batters later, Kyle Stowers doubled into the right-field corner for Otto Lopez and Esteury Ruiz to cross the plate.
The Fish expanded their lead to 4-2 in the third inning. Ruiz knocked in Lopez on a sacrifice fly into center field.
The Braves picked up one run during the top of the fifth and trailed 4-3. Matt Olson drove in Acuna on a double into right-center field.
The Bravos tied it up 4-4 with one run in the top of the sixth. Harris smashed a solo homer to center field on the first pitch for his ninth home run of the season.
Atlanta reclaimed the lead 7-4 in the eighth inning. Dubon hit a fielder's choice with the bases loaded to the right side of the diamond and Ha-Seong Kim touched home. Olson followed with a two-run single through the left side which scored Kim and Acuna. They made it 8-4 in the ninth inning when Kim singled into center field and Austin Riley scored.

Marlins Dominate Braves

The Miami Marlins decimated the Atlanta Braves 12-0 at loanDepot park on Monday night. The Marlins began a seven-game homestand.

The Marlins made it 6-0 in the fourth inning with five runs. Mack singled up the middle which brought in Kyle Stowers and Jakob Marsee. Two batters later, Xavier Edwards got an infield hit to short and Norby reached home. Liam Hicks followed with a double into right field to score Mack and Edwards for a six-run margin.
Atlanta(32-16) surrendered six more runs in the bottom of the fifth and trailed 12-0. Mack walked with the bases loaded and Stowers touched home. Javier Sanoja came up next and lined a grand-slam home run barely over the left-field wall on a 1-1 pitch with Marsee, Norby and Mack on base. Edwards then powered a solo homer to left-center field on a 1-0 count for his fifth home run of the season.

Inter Miami CF(8-2-4) pulled out to a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute. Telasco Segovia slipped a heel kick to the middle of the field and Lionel Messi put in an eight-yard shot with his left foot.
Portland(4-7-2) gave up another goal in the 42nd minute of play and trailed 2-0. Messi dribbled into the penalty area and then made a square pass to his left with the outside of his left foot. German Berterame booted in a right-footed shot from nine yards out.

Rays Rise Over Marlins

The Tampa Bay Rays burned the Miami Marlins 6-3 at Tropicana Field on Sunday. The Marlins had the exclusive Sunday 12:15 p.m. broadcast window on Peacock for the second straight week.
The Fish completed a six-game road trip. They will host the Atlanta Braves on Monday to start a seven-game homestand.
