Miami FC hosted the San Francisco Deltas on Wednesday night at Riccardo Silva Stadium and tied 1-1. Their unbeaten streak was extended to nine games with the draw. Both teams with face each other in the same venue on Saturday.
Vincenzo Rennella gave Miami FC(7-2-2) a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 10th minute of play. San Francisco(4-5-1) evened the score 1-1 during the 20th minute when Pablo Dyego put in a tally on a penalty kick.

Miami Central At Blanche Ely Preview
The Miami Central Rockets take on the Blanche Ely Tigers at Richard L. Williams Stadium in Pompano Beach on Friday night. It is a rare meeting between these two programs that have plenty of winning tradition.
Miami Central(5-1) is one of the few schools in South Florida that have played six games so far this year. They compiled home victories over Chaminade-Madonna and Booker T. Washington, then flew to Nevada and beat Bishop Gorman. After a road loss at IMG Academy, the Rockets topped district rival Norland and Edison.
Running back James Cook will be the focus of their offense. Quarterback Maurice Underwood intends to find wide receivers Terrell Perriman, Zeryus Coleman and Seth McGill on passes for the Rockets.

They started off with defeats to Stranahan and Plantation before wins over Boyd Anderson and district foe Fort Lauderdale. Deerfield Beach At St. Thomas Aquinas Preview

Michael Russo Wins Red Fisher Award
Former Florida Panthers beat reporter Michael Russo has won the inaugural Red Fisher Award from the Professional Hockey Writers Association. The award is given by the PHWA to the top overall beat writer who best exemplifies and covers the National Hockey League over a given season.
Russo was the Panthers writer for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel from the 1996-97 season until September 2005. He moved on to the Star Tribune to become the Minnesota Wild beat reporter and held that position until August 2017. Russo recently joined The Athletic in September.

Florida Panthers Announce Roster
The Florida Panthers announced their official 2017-18 season roster on Wednesday. The club will play their first game of the regular season in Tampa Bay against the Lightning on Friday night. The Panthers have their home opener at BB&T Center in Sunrise on Friday night when they face the Lightning.
Forwards will include Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, Evgenii Dadonov, Vincent Trocheck, Nick Bjugstad, Radim Vrbata, Owen Tippett, Jamie McGinn, Jared McCann, Derek MacKenzie, Colton Sceviour, Denis Malgin, Connor Brickley and Michael Haley.

FHSAA Release First Playoff Points Standings
The Florida High School Athletic Association released their first ever average points system standings of South Florida schools for the upcoming 2017 playoffs. The FHSAA changed the parameters to determine playoff teams this year by eliminating district runner-up schools that once automatically qualified.
Class 8A down to Class 5A have district champion qualify automatically for the postseason. Four other schools in each region represent the top four wild-card teams.
Two regions in Class 8A is compiled of South Florida schools. Region 3 seeds from Broward and Palm Beach County included in ranked order Seminole Ridge(40.5), Miramar(39), Atlantic(39), Deerfield Beach(37.25), Palm Beach Central(40), Plantation(38.8), Western(38.8) and Palm Beach Gardens(34). Three schools appeared from District 9 and District 12.
Region 4 of Class 8A consists of Dade County schools. The playoff ranking had South Dade(42.75), Columbus(41.4), North Miami Beach(36.67), Belen Jesuit(36), Palmetto(38.5), Miami(37.8), Homestead(37) and Hialeah(36).
Class 7A had the defending three-time state champion St. Thomas Aquinas(District 14) as the top seed in Region 4 with 41 points. Two teams from District 13 were represented with Forest Hill ranked fourth with 39 points and Dwyer at fifth with 37.4 points. District 15 had Nova with 39.5 points in third while West Broward entered sixth at 37 points. Three schools are represented from District 16 as Doral Academy finished in second with 40.2 points, Miami Springs in seventh with 36 points and Mater Academy with 34.8 points at the eighth spot.
District 16 in Class 6A may benefit the most from the biggest change of the playoff format and take advantage of the new points system. Miami Northwestern leads what might be the toughest district to play in South Florida with 41.75 points and is rated as the top seed in Region 4. They have three other schools in the district not in first place that qualified for a wild-card position. Miami Central ranked fifth with 40.33 points, defending state champion Carol City ranked seventh with 35.75 points and Norland ranked eighth with 34 points. Dillard was the only other local team to qualify as they lead District 15 with 32.4 points and ranked as a fourth seed.
Class 5A has three schools in District 16 who are eligible. Cardinal Gibbons is the district leader and the top seed in Region 4 with 44.75 points. The defending state champion American Heritage-Plantation has 44.67 points which ranks fifth while Coconut Creek is seventh with 37.67 points. Only one team would qualify in District 15 as both Suncoast and Fort Pierce Westwood are tied for first place in that district with 33.6 points.
Class 4A through Class 1A no longer have district champions and the four best teams from each region qualify for the playoffs. The top four seeds of Class 4A in Region 4 are Key West(44), University School(42.67), Booker T. Washington(37.17) and Gulliver Prep (37). Looking from the outside are Monsignor Pace(37) and Glades Central(34.75).

West Palm Beach Ratings September 2017
The West Palm Beach ratings were released. It was a down time with the impact of Hurricane Irma toward the South Florida region. ESPN West Palm 106.3 WUUB-FM was the first sports station in West Palm Beach that returned back to their regular format following the major storm.
640 The Hurricane WMEN-AM moved from a 0.4 to a 0.5 in September. The station became the new affiliate of Miami Hurricanes football team and were hurt with two games being postponed. They did broadcast a Spanish-language music format on their terrestrial transmitter instead of sports for a week. The New York Yankees made their run toward a playoff spot.
Sports Radio 1230 The Zone WBZT-AM went from a 0.1 to a 0.0 in the month. They were impacted as the Miami Marlins slipped out of the pennant race, even if Giancarlo Stanton continued to hit home runs on a hectic pace. The syndicated Jeff DeForest morning show was not heard live for over a week.
