Miami Ratings May 2014

The Miami/Fort Lauderdale region remained the same for the ninth consecutive month as 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM was the top sports format radio station. It was the largest margin of victory for that station since their inception in 2004. The Ticket has finished alone in first every month since January 2013 except for two months during the summer of 2013 in which they tied with Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM.
The path of the Miami Heat in the postseason going for their third straight NBA title jolted 104.3 The Ticket from a 1.6 in April to a 2.5 in May as they improved to their highest ratings ever in their ten-year history. The station seems not to be affected by the loss of Miami Marlins game broadcasts when they filled their evening slot with a slew of hosts that include Brian "The Beast" London, Josh Friedman and Chris Wittyngham.
WQAM remained flat with a 0.9 in the month of May. The afternoon show with Marc Hochman and Zach Krantz continued to make upward strides while on the downside the University of Miami Hurricanes baseball team slow start earlier this season lost some attention from the audience.
940 WINZ-AM changed their slogan from The Sports Animal to Miami's Sports Station prior to the current ratings period and remained at a 0.2 for the fourth consecutive month. They have been unable to get a ratings bump with the addition of Miami Marlins games this season.
