Hurricanes Lose Orange Bowl To Wisconsin

     The Miami Hurricanes played in the 84th annual Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday night and were defeated by the Wisconsin Badgers 34-24. The Canes finished the 2017 season losing their final three games.
     Wisconsin(13-1) scored first during the opening quarter. They were able to get a 35-yard field goal from Rafael Gaglianone at 7:58 to go up 3-0.
     Miami(10-3) responded with a touchdown on their second possession of the contest at the 5:21 mark. Running back Travis Homer, an Oxbridge Academy grad, ran the ball in from five yards away for the score to give the Canes a 7-3 lead.
     The Hurricanes would get into the end zone on the second play of their third drive. Running back DeeJay Dallas took a handoff and raced for a 39-yard touchdown run with 2:49 left in the first quarter.
     In the second quarter, the Badgers cut the deficit to 14-10 at 13:37. Quarterback Alex Hornibrook threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Danny Davis III on the right sideline.
     Wisconsin kept the momentum and regained the lead 17-14 with 5:49 remaining in the first half. Wide receiver A.J. Taylor caught a 16-yard touchdown reception from Hornibrook. The Badgers increased their lead to 24-14 with 28 seconds to go when Hornibrook found Davis on a five-yard toss.
     The Canes quickly attacked in the third quarter with a two-play drive and closed the gap to three points 24-21 at 10:52. Quarterback Malik Rosier completed a 38-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Lawrence Cager.
     Both teams later exchanged field goals as Gaglianone connected from 47 yards away for Wisconsin with 3:45 left in the third and Michael Badgley booted a 41-yard field goal at the 11:39 mark of the fourth.
     Hornibrook compiled his fourth touchdown pass of the contest to give the Badgers a 34-24 lead with 7:48 remaining. He passed six yards to Davis for his third touchdown reception.
