Austin Slater Re-Signs With Rays

     Former Miami Marlins outfielder Austin Slater has re-signed a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Rays. He optioned out of his minor league deal with that club on August 25. 
     Slater began the 2026 regular season with the Marlins. He finished with one run batted in and a .174 batting average in 12 contests with the Fish. 

Cam Riley & Jeremiah Franklin Released

     The Miami Dolphins have released two players from their practice squad. They are linebacker Cam Riley and tight end Jeremiah Franklin. 
     Riley played with Auburn University from 2020 to 2023 followed by Florida State University in 2024. Franklin spent four years at Boston College from 2022 until 2025. 

Rangers Ink John King

     The Texas Rangers have signed relief pitcher John King to a minor league contract. It will be his second stint with that organization. King was with them from 2020 until 2023. 
     King pitched 50 games for the Miami Marlins during the 2026 campaign. He was released by the Fish last week. 

Xavier Restrepo Back With Titans

     Former Broward County high school football wide receiver Xavier Restrepo has returned to the Tennessee Titans. He signed a contract to join their practice squad. Restrepo got to see NFL action in two games with the Titans last season. 
     Restrepo played his first three years of high school football with the St. Thomas Aquinas. He contributed to STA winning the FHSAA Class 7A state championship in 2016 during his junior year. He transferred to the Deerfield Beach Bucks for his senior season. 

Marlins Outpace Royals

     The Miami Marlins outlasted the Kansas City Royals 9-6 at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday night. The Marlins will complete their seven-game road swing tomorrow. 
     Miami(71-69) rocketed out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Kansas City(62-78) answered back quickly compiling five runs in the bottom of the first for a 5-2 advantage. 
     The Marlins slowly climbed back into the contest during the middle innings. The Fish placed three runs in the sixth inning and regained the lead 7-6. They were able to add two insurance runs in the top of the ninth for a three-run margin.

Mazi Smith On Dolphins Practice Squad

     The Miami Dolphins have picked up free agent defensive lineman Mazi Smith. He was released by the New York Jets on Saturday. 
     Smith was selected 26th overall in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He was with them for three seasons until the Cowboys traded him to the Jets in November 2025. 

WQAM On SiriusXM Radio

      The signal on 104.3 Sports WQAM-FM and sister-station 560 WQAM-AM appeared on the airwaves of SiriusXM Radio beginning today. The WQAM signal is on the SiriusXM app and does not have its own satellite radio channel. 
     Audacy agreed in July to have all of their branded and owned terrestrial sports talk radio stations placed on SiriusXM Radio. Nine Audacy terrestrial sports stations from different cities picked up their own channel such as New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Cleveland. 15 other Audacy terrestrial sports stations, which included WQAM, has a spot on the SiriusXM app.
